Dental Hygiene

The Hupfau Dental team is always here to take care of your smile, whatever your needs.

Regular Dental Exams

By assessing your oral health regularly, we are usually able to identify a problem before it starts to “hurt” and can intervene while the problem is still minimal, saving you time and unnecessary expense. We firmly believe in prevention and regular exams will help us ensure that you maintain a beautiful and healthy smile for life.

Professional Cleaning

Your gums and the underlying bone are what keep your teeth in your head! We highly recommend visiting one of our talented, friendly dental hygienists for professional cleaning regularly. Depending on the health of your gums and underlying bone your hygienist will recommend the right maintenance schedule to address your needs. If your gums and bones have an advanced stage of disease, we will refer you to a specialist for further treatment to return your mouth to a healthy state.

Prevent Dental Cavities

We incorporate fluoride treatment into your hygiene appointments because we believe that Fluoride provides one of the best treatments to help prevent dental cavities and tooth sensitivity. We are happy to explain how Fluoride can help you maintain healthy teeth.

Calm and Warm Environment

At Hupfau Dental we understand the importance of children having a positive, upbeat experience the first time they visit the dentist. Even though baby teeth fall out, keeping them healthy will teach your child the importance of good dental hygiene and will ultimately determine their future adult smile. Talk to us if you have an infant and we will provide you with relevant information about first teeth emerging and the best time to bring your child in for an exam. If we feel that a pediatric dentist is the best fit for your child, we will recommend one of the excellent clinicians we work with.

Dental Restorations

When your teeth need treatment, there are various options to restore them back to health.

Crown

A dental crown is a restoration placed over a tooth that is weakened by the loss of structure due to decay or trauma. It will restore the appearance of the tooth as well as its functionality. A crown can be made of either gold or porcelain. Together we will decide which material will be the most appropriate for your situation.

Bridge

A dental bridge is a prosthesis that is used to restore single or multiple teeth that are missing. The bridge will hold the prosthetic tooth in place by placing crowns on the adjacent natural teeth. A bridge can also be made utilizing two implants.

Veneers

A veneer is a great aesthetic option that is minimally invasive. A thin ‘veneer’ of porcelain is cemented to the front of the tooth that has been minimally prepared. This restoration is a great way to improve the colour and shape of anterior teeth.

Implant Options/Solutions

The same way that a hip or a knee can be replaced with a titanium joint a dental implant is an excellent option to the replacement of one or more permanent teeth. They are also utilized in conjunction with a full or partial denture to keep the prosthesis in place. With dental technology becoming more advanced, implants are now considered one of the most innovative and ideal solutions for dealing with tooth loss.

Excellent Specialists

We work with excellent specialists who place implants in the mouths of our patients and we restore them here in the office.

White or Composite

Most of the restorations we do in the office are composite or ‘white’ fillings. A composite filling is a restoration that is bonded to your tooth and is minimally invasive as we will preserve as much tooth structure as possible. There are times when composites are not appropriate, and we will talk to you about the other options.

Gold

Our office is known for our goldwork. Gold has the physical properties that perfectly match those of enamel and can’t break or chip like porcelain. There are several indications for using gold and many times we can minimize the display and make the restoration virtually invisible.

Dental Extractions & Root Canals

Extractions

There are times that teeth need to be removed. Whether it be for orthodontic reasons, wisdom teeth removal or the fact that the prognosis for the tooth is hopeless we will do everything we can to make the extraction experience as smooth as possible for you. We also work closely with several oral surgeons if the case is complicated, or deep sedation is required.

Root Canal Treatment

A tooth needs root canal treatment (RCT) when the nerve inside has either become inflamed or necrotic. There is a lot of mythology around root canals and how they can be terrible, but for the vast majority of people, the experience is uneventful. Root canals can be quite complicated and for this reason, we refer many of the root canals to the talented specialists we work with as they have the advantage of microscopes, enhanced imaging and advanced training.

When a tooth has received root canal treatment, in the majority of cases the tooth needs a crown placed to strengthen the tooth and prevent a fracture.

Cosmetic Services

Hupfau Dental provides cosmetic services to give you the beautiful smile that you deserve

Brighten Your Smile

Teeth whitening is a great option to brighten your smile. The two options we provide at Hupfau Dental are in-office bleaching and at-home bleaching. We are happy to discuss the options with you at any time. Studies have shown bleaching to be safe and effective. Some patients experience slight gum irritation or tooth sensitivity in the days following the application of the whitening product, but this will resolve itself when the treatment ends.

Cosmetic and Therapeutic

We provide Botox treatment in the upper half of the face to relax lines and minimize wrinkles. Botox can also be used therapeutically to help with tooth grinding, and we work together with trained specialists in the area.
